Jellyfish has announced that he has officially retired from the blogging sphere in order to free up his time for some other reasons best known to himself. Here's to wish him good luck in whatever he plans to do and all successes, even when he is not blogging. He didn't say much in his post and we respect his decision. In the first place, nobody should use too much of their personal time in blogging (with no offense).
Speaking about blogging, for me, it is not a race or a proof to anyone that my blog ROCKS. As I have said before, I blog when I have inspiration or feeling to write on something.. When my inspiration comes back to my job, I will put it there because it will bring bread (and drumsticks) to my table. And I comment on other blogs during my tele-conferences or after lunch.
As I have mentioned before I am not a 'full-time' blogger and I blog to fill up some inspiration gaps. Of course, I am terribly honored to have your comments and your visits to read the ridiculous stuff which I wrote or posted.
Somehow, as people got closer to blogging, some of them felt obligated to update their blogs everyday and wrote whatever that came to their minds, including their lunches and dinners (invasion of privacy?).
Such 'unnatural obligations' may add unnecessary pressures to their already busy lives and they may throw in the towel and 'retire' or 'resign'.
For me, I share my joy of the dogs, cats, cars, travels, and some of my favorite jokes which I read and post them for any like-minded people to enjoy. I give no excuse for repeats and will certainly not hesitate to knock the teeth of those who complained, since I do not charge them for reading my stuffs here (considering my professional rates).
Again, I quote the wise Panda, the word here is moderation. Taken as spices in my already interesting life, blogging will be my lifetime experience and learning; but definitely not the main course nor priority! Amen...

I don't deserve to be quoted. I am not wise. I am a fool. The one you are quoting and attributing to me is the Buddha.
ReplyDeleteSad to see I Jellyfish "close up shop" as it were, but understand. We all wish him well.
Sometimes we all spend more time than we think we should on our blogs. Yet, in expressing ourselves, and reading each other's thoughts, are we not doing something very profound?
I for one am deeply touched by the connections bloggers make across thousands of miles, and huge cultural gaps to come to understanding with each other.
don't he knows he's entitled to annual vacation days (unpaid of coz hehehe...) as and when he requires. :)
ReplyDeletei go hiatus myself when work or personal matters started to look overwhelming. I'm not in the race as well ... this is just for fun & self-satisfaction from attaining your own targets. And in the end, hope to know myself better & cross path with likemind folks in the blogosphere :)
hmm ... actually, i did set a target date. if blogging doesn't feel fun after that, I'm retiring as well :)
I agree that it's sad to see Jellyfish calling it quits. I respect his decision and wish him well.
ReplyDeleteBlogging in itself is a wonderful experience. I remember I was very excited when my blog was created. I believe to be able to enjoy blogging, one has to be clear as to why one chooses to blog and stay on course of the objective. Of course, doing it at the pace comfortable to one and posting entries according to one's own fancy make it enjoyable and without stress.
I have been receiving articles and jokes from my kind and caring friends, near and far. I thought setting up a blog would enable me to share them with other friends who might not have read them, thus my blog was started with that in mind. It also gave me an avenue to rant.
In the process, I've learnt much from other blogs that covered such a wide variety of topics. The knowledge gained is awesome. I have learned so much, incredible really. Suddenly you realise, you're so small and there's so much out there.
My friends who read my blog are shy people so they don't leave comments. That's okay by me as they do send me emails to feed back and that gave me the impetus to continue.
Then, one day, along came comments and all of a sudden, blogging becomes more alive, no longer a monologue sort of. I then realised that there are people outside of my circle of friends who're reading my stuff (not that they're great) and took the trouble and time to leave a comment. That's so nice, I thought. Blogging has since then taken on a different light and I thank you, my blogging-buddies, for offering me your friendship and the chance to share your life.
To quote Pandabonium, " Yet, in expressing ourselves, and reading each other's thoughts, are we not doing something very profound?". This I certainly agree.
I too am deeply touched by the connections we're able to make across thousands of miles. We have become a part of each other's life whether we like it or not and I am grateful for the friendship.
Jellyfish, I hope you'll contine to come back and visit us and leave your footprints on our blogs. Best wishes.
I understand clearly what you are saying, Robin...
ReplyDeleteAaarrgghh... where's the sweet Robin? I really miss him....*sob sob sob*
Who say I am not sweet? (ready with hammer to knock off teeth)
ReplyDeletehaha
Happy... thanks for sharing your thoughts here.
ReplyDeleteI like moderation, and the middle path.
Just like durians, (which I am dislike) if it is available the whole year round, I am sure nobody will have any craving for it after his 100 pcs. Being a seasonal fruit makes it popular. The word today (besides moderation) is season, as in my March 2 post.
Too much of anything is bad, .... including blogging.
Panda, you are wise indeed.. The quote is from Buddha, but the path is yours and you have the wisdom to practice the quote and share it generously. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSlurp! exactly, but no need to set target date, as long as you enjoy it, u can do it once in a while, no need to close shop or do it everyday.
Give Kenneth some space and time ... and I get the feelin' that he'll be back again one fine day.
