I think what they meant was that "No irresponsible feeding of cats".As long as you clean up the mess /leftover after the cat has finished his dinner, it is perfectly ok. Leftover cats food and newspaper can be an eye sore and may post hygiene problems.
And of course, not all community cats are "cute" but they deserve equal treatment. Otherwise all the "ugly" beings in this world should be terminated?
If you choose to feed the community cats, please proper cat food, dun share your leftover lunch with the community cats.

Some ppl like to leave leftover food outside their gates on the roadway in our housing estates which of course attracts stray dogs to stay and hang around. The messy food and scruffy dogs are really an eye sore and a health hazard.
ReplyDeleteOne day I politely asked one of them why do that do that knowing the kind of problems we get and they replied that as 'buddhists' it is a sin to throw away food and it is meritorious to feed stray animals! huh?
They must be "worshiping" the wrong "buddha".

i miss the stray cats in my neighbourhood, a lot missing already and those remains are always hiding...sigh!
ReplyDeleteThe problem is there are people who have no time to spare. They just want to dump the food for the cats to eat and disappear immediately thereafter. Responsible cat-feeders are those who make time to wait for the cats to finish their meals before cleaning up the place after feeding them.

ReplyDeleteWe have a lot stray cats on the street in Jakarta! Poor cats, they have to find their own food in people's garbages...
ReplyDeleteit's a constant battle isn't it? people who want to feed stray cats but do not want to clean up after that. it's like getting a job half-done kinda thingy. similar to many 'so-called' pet lovers who want to play with the pet but don't want to take care of them for life (or till the end of the animial's lifespan). people have to be educated on what 'responsibility' means and had the 'full' to the 'responsibility' if need be. :)
