Three Illusions in life,
1. The deception of death or thinking that we will live forever.
2. That problems come from outside and not within me.
3. The search of happiness is the cause of suffering.

Awesome! Where were these shot? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder. It's good to see the holes in the road. Now I just have to learn how to avoid them!

But the pursuit of true happiness is a legitimate goal. It's the cause of suffering, surely, only when we mistake the nature and the source of happiness... No?
ReplyDeleteThat 2nd one is most difficult for some of us. It is always someone/something else we wish to blame.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post and pics, Robin. Thank you.
The search for happiness or more happiness; the self grasping want, the 'what about me'; the illusion that happiness is when I get something or someone.. all leads to suffering.
ReplyDeleteOnly when one understand that the journey is no longer a search, that immediate instance is true happiness with no mistaken thoughts of what happiness should be.
All compounded things are impermanent.
All emotions are pain.
All things have no inherent existence.
Nirvana is beyond concepts.
It is very difficult to reconcile the third point. That "the journey is no longer a search, that immediate instance is true happiness with no mistaken thoughts of what happiness should be" means we have to accept our present state of being as "happiness" even though we may be sick, starving, suffering, etc ?
