A friend read a chapter which explained how one can practice the Buddha Dharma to decrease suffering in the next lives, and not just this one.
She like this bit 'compared to the suffering we will have to endure then, this life's suffering no longer seems so unbearable".
The faith of reincarnation does relief suffering for many people, and the Buddha saw this in India especially in the caste system.

At that time, life as a farmer or a slave as compared to the life of royal and rich...
People seem to think that they are destined to suffer for this whole entire life.. Thus the idea that practice of the Dharma will relief suffering in the next life has benefited and attract people to practice the Dharma.
Actually, like I have explained before, happiness has nothing to do with whether you are rich or poor... or royal or normal... happiness is a state of mind, happiness is certainly achievable even if you are extremely poor, handicap, retarded ...
If happiness depend on anything external, money, wealth children, lovers, friends, then you are bound to suffer .. because everything is impermanence.
Happiness must be generated from the bliss and joy from our mind.
The practice of compassion, loving kindness, gratitude, contentment, and peace of mind are all the values that will generate happiness.
Try it...
