When the time and karma is right, we will reach enlightenment, whether through chanting, meditation or death. This explains what works for some may not work for others. The path of enlightenment include the first path of accumulation of merits and path of preparation.
In 闻,思,修,行,成 , we have to make sure that we have enough merits and karma to complete each stage. For eg, a person in a remote place in Africa may not even have the chance to hear the Dharma. Same with those who hear the Dharma will not have the chance to think and understand them.. and those who understand will not have time to practice.. those who practice did not put their practice into their daily life.. and even if they did, they did not succeed to reach enlightenment.
In our life, we plan too much, say too much, practice too little and do so little. And we think we don't have time for anything else..
We think we have done a lot, but looking back, quite a lot of the doings are silly things which we have a good laugh about them, move on and forgotten our lessons even when we made our mistakes.. thus we do the wrong things again and again and kept ourselves very "Busy".
And when we are face with failure, it sounds like the end of the world..
Every obstacle has a learning point. Suffering in life comes with wonderful lessons, which we must learn to prevent its re-occurrence.
The Bodhisattva is mindfully aware of the cause of the suffering whereas the layperson only see its consequences.
Every single steps depend on our karma and merits..
